Salary £76,761 to £103,490

We are the only hospice on the Isle of Wight and we are the Island’s largest charity. At the Hospice we pride ourselves on delivering the highest standard of care and support to patients and their families and constantly strive to ensure we reach as many people as possible whenever and wherever they may need us.

We have a 16 bed In-Patient Unit (IPU), a large day, self-help and rehabilitation centre (John Cheverton Centre) and our community nursing team, which includes specialist and domiciliary care, which supports hundreds of people across the Isle of Wight in their own homes, residential homes, nursing homes and within the local General Hospital. We also provide a range of bespoke services to dying children and their families in conjunction with a range of local partners. Our services and our approach to care are being constantly developed and expanded to meet the growing demands of the increasingly complex health issues and needs of our community. The post holder will be pivotal in assisting the Hospice to adapt and innovate to ensure services are fit for purpose, not just for those who need us now, but for future generations.

The postholder will join our established, innovative and experienced team based at our main site in Newport to provide inpatient and outpatient services and working collaboratively with colleagues and partner organisations to deliver, support and enable end of life services in the community and the Isle of Wight NHS Trust.

This is a unique and new post which is based at Earl Mountbatten Hospice on the Isle of Wight, which has been rated Outstanding by the CQC. The post holder will be employed by the Isle of Wight NHS Trust.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will provide high standards of care to our patients and be responsible for liaising with and supporting their families, friends and carers. The postholder will work alongside the other consultant role to undertake Medical Director duties including clinical governance and the management of a small team of specialist doctors and a GP trainee. There is also the opportunity to participate in research and teaching as the Hospice has strong links with Southampton University.

You will ideally hold the post of consultant and be GMC registered on the specialist register for Palliative Medicine or Specialist Registrar within 6 months of your CCT at the time of interview. Experience of palliative medicine for non-cancer conditions is desirable.

Facilities Assistant

37.5 hours per week Permanent Position

Salary upto £7.83 per hour, age dependent

 

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Hospice as Facilities Assistant.

Our Facilities Team provide comprehensive maintenance programmes across the Hospice and as a member of the team you will be required to participate in supporting these activities and provide support on a daily basis for planned and unplanned maintenance. In addition you will deal with reactive repairs, complete grounds and gardens maintenance as required.

You will provide support to our Equipment Service in relation to the collection and delivery of items both on site and across our services on the Island.

Core hours will normally be Monday-Friday, but you may be requested to work the occasional evening and weekend.

You will be dedicated, able to work flexibly and responsively, be able to prioritise workloads with the ability to work on your own initiative or as part of a team. Ideally, you will have a flexible approach to working patterns, with a ‘Can Do’ attitude.

You will have previous experience in a similar role, preferably within a health care setting with knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH, and Infection Control procedures. The role requires some handling of heavy equipment and the negotiation of stairs during the collection / delivery.

The Hospice is committed to the development of its staff so you must be willing to complete further training in relation to this role.
