University of Southampton partnership

We have excellent links with the University of Southampton's Faculty of Health Sciences, following the university's first ever appointment to a Clinical Teaching Fellow post.

Community Clinical Nurse Specialist Dee Curless (left) has taken up this important role and works with the Faculty's pre-registration nursing team, developing and delivering clinically current education to agreed Palliative Care modules.

Dr Sue Duke, Associate Professor and Faculty Curriculum Lead for Cancer and Palliative Care, at the University of Southampton said: "These posts have been developed to enhance the clinical dimensions of our provision, particularly in the courses we offer to student nurses. Dee's expertise in end of life care will help us to ensure that student nurses complete their training with the knowledge and skills needed to provide sensitive and compassionate care to people at the end of life."

"They look after you and they're so caring. I'm not frightened of dying."
