Schools Walk The Wight

In 2008, 2000 school children from 52 schools joined in the Schools Walk the Wight and raised £21,000 towards the care of patients at the Hospice.

Schools Walk the Wight is a ‘virtual walk’ where the children build up the ‘miles’ by walking to school, walking around the playground or even out with their parents at the weekend.

On registration, each child gets a Walker Number and Logcard with stickers to show how their ‘miles’ are building up.

Then they are welcome to join the main Walk on 16th May to do the last 4 miles from Freshwater Bay to the Needles Park. Each child who completes the ‘Walk’ receives a Certificate and a Medal.

Schools Coordination

  • Each School has their own Walk the Wight coordinator who organises registrations.
  • For Schools Coordinator Information
