Sometimes fundraising initiatives really capture the imagination and this has been the case with our Skydiving opportunities. The Hospice first took a team of nervous jumpers in August 2008 and the event was so popular we took another group in October. So far, leaping into the air at 12,000ft has raised over £15,000 with the money still rolling in.
Now we are looking for more people to take part in our next jump which will be held either later in the year or Summer 2011. It’s really straightforward to get involved! All we ask is that you raise a minimum of £365 – that will cover the cost of the jump and include a £150 donation to the hospice. We’ve discovered that sponsors can be quite generous for something like this so, the sky’s the limit…no pun intended.
Insurance is really easy to sort out and you can be fully covered for around £30. You don’t have to be super fit to jump and we can take people who are over 16 and under 55.
The Hospice will arrange all your transportation to and from the airfield in Salisbury and back to the Island again. When you arrive you’ll be guided through the simple registration process – it only takes a few minutes. Next you’ll be put through your training paces and then have the chance to watch your fellow skydivers landing while you watch the board for your name to appear and up (and down!) you go!
It’s a fabulous out of this world experience!
