Head of Education and Research

 Salary £40,000 to £50,000 per annum

37.5 hours per week to be worked flexibly 

 Earl Mountbatten Hospice has embarked on a new and exciting stage in its evolution, in partnership with the University of Southampton.  Our aim is to further develop Hospice services by creating a centre of recognised excellence for education and learning.  As a first step, we are seeking to appoint a Head of Education and Research who will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of the education and research strategy for the hospice.   Key components of this visionary leadership role will be:  building and growing the educational and research provisions through programme design, exploring a range of different funding mechanisms and maintaining and broadening external relationships,  As part of its 35th Anniversary, Earl Mountbatten hospice is about to embark on a £1.5m Capital Appeal to create a new centre for end of life care in the community, which will include a new suite of purposely designed education, training and learning spaces.
 
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will continue to build on the existing growth and reputation of the hospice as an outstanding lead provider of specialist palliative and end of life care education both regionally, nationally and internationally. You will promote and support the Hospice’s values through all aspects of your role.
 
You will be a Registered Health Care professional with a minimum of 5 years post registration experience and hold a master’s degree.  You will also hold or be working towards your PhD or Clinical Doctorate and have academic experience of teaching in a university setting.  There is exciting potential to develop and grow an already existing partnership with the University of Southampton in all areas of education, learning, workforce development, research and evaluation.

Advanced Nursing Practice Facilitator

Island Better Funded Care Project
3 year Fixed Term Contract
(37.5 hours per week – job share considered)

 Salary £26,565 - £35,577 Agenda for Change Band 6

The Island Better Funded Care Project is a shared training initiative funded by the Local Authority, with  the aim of supporting Island Care Providers.  Working with the Education and Learning Facilitator/Practitioner you will develop and implement an innovative three year project to help deliver the funds objectives.  You will be responsible for establishing the need for the provision of training in the care sector and for identifying key areas where staff require support and education around daily care services as set out within the CQC framework and Key Lines of Enquiry.  You will ensure communication links are in place to deliver a continuous and well-coordinated education programme. As an effective advocate for the patient, you will understand the needs of those receiving health and social care as well as governance issues including evaluation, risk management and audit procedures.
 
You will be a registered health or social care professional, with over 5 year’s post-registration experience.  You will be experienced in collaborating and networking with other health and social care providers in primary, secondary and independent voluntary care sectors.  You will have strong communication skills and have a good knowledge of education, particularly within palliative/end of life care.  You will be an experienced mentor/supervisor, who can demonstrate analytical thinking skills and ability to develop new, innovative education programmes to meet the objectives of this project.

Are you passionate about evidencing the quality of care we provide at Earl Mountbatten Hospice and embedding the use of data throughout the organisation?
 
We are searching for an enthusiastic, committed and motivated person with experience in the preparation of data and quality reports and a good understanding of health information. The successful candidate will possess strong IT and data processing skills combined with excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and be flexible.

Inpatient Unit and Community Nurses

If you have ever wondered what it was like to care for patients in the Hospice setting or at home then this is the ideal opportunity for you.  We have vacancies for qualified Nurses to join our as Bank Nurses working within our Inpatient Unit and Clinical team based in the Community.
 
Your hours will be flexible and derived by the needs of the service and ideally have palliative care and/or community experience to fulfil the requirements of this post.  Full driving licence is required for any community based work.
