Visiting Out-Patients
The Medical Director, Dr Ian Cairns and his medical team (Dr’s Sally Cardew and Jenny Harper) hold clinics several times a week at the Hospice.
If it is your first visit you may be feeling very anxious. This is quite normal.
It may help you if you can jot down some things that you want to ask the doctor or nurse when you come. This is a good opportunity to discuss any worries that you may have about your illness. Additionally, it would be very useful for the Doctor if you could bring an accurate record of the medication that you are taking.
When you arrive at the Hospice, a volunteer will meet you and show you the waiting area and offer you refreshments. A nurse will accompany you when you see the doctor and will be happy to explain anything to you after your consultation. Transport for your appointment can be arranged if necessary.
