GKN partnership to showcase hospice artwork

GKN Cowes is working in partnership with Earl Mountbatten Hospice to exhibit locally produced artwork that has been kindly donated by lsland artists and people supported by hospice services.

The artwork is being displayed at the hospice’s own art gallery which is open to the general public in the Halberry Lane building, and also at both of GKN’s sites at Osborne and Falcon Yard for GKN employees, giving more people the opportunity to appreciate the art and purchase it, which in turn raises money for our Island’s hospice.

Paul Grevatt, GKN Manufacturing Quality Engineer, said: “GKN are continuously looking to see how we can improve employee engagement and support our local community, and this project is a fantastic way to combine the two whilst increasing visibility of local artists work, and raise money at the same time.

“On a personal note, we lost our dad in November of 2016 and I can’t thank everyone at the hospice enough for the care and support they gave him, and our family, and for how they treated him with such compassion and dignity. Developing this project has been an exciting experience and I've worked with such wonderful people. It’s also rewarding to be part of a major aerospace manufacturer that understands its responsibility within the working environment and the local community and acts on it so positively,” Paul added.

Nigel Hartley, Chief Executive, said: “Art is such an important part of our every day work at Earl Mountbatten; it gives people the chance to express themselves when words are often difficult to find. Through our community artists/counsellors and volunteers, we aim to make life as normal as possible when people are going through the most difficult times. We are delighted that GKN are helping us to spread the word about our own art gallery, whilst also raising funds for the hospice through the wonderful art that is created by Islanders we support.”

Earl Mountbatten's Art Gallery is open every weekday between 9am and 5pm, and can be found in the main hospice building. All are welcome to come and enjoy the artwork, which changes every month, take a tour of our Chelsea Garden and enjoy delicious refreshments at our Sunflower Cafe which is also open to the general public.

Please note that the GKN art exhibition is only open to its employees.
