You may be feeling anxious that you or a member of your family has been referred to the Hospice.
Arrangements can be made for you and your family to look around the Hospice and meet the staff. You are also welcome to telephone the Hospice (529511) if you have any queries – no matter how small.
The role of Hospice care has changed over the years and we are no longer there for just the last days of life. Earl Mountbatten Hospice offers a range of services, specialist skills and support, often alongside active treatment for an illness. The Hospice has fifteen in-patient beds, a Day Unit and Out-patient facilities.
Many of our patients attend our Out-patients Department and Day Centre for many years. Over a half of our patients that are admitted to the In-patient unit are discharged home following an average stay of nine days.
