The Earl Mountbatten Hospice invests in the education, training and development of staff and volunteers to enable the high quality of specialist palliative care is delivered to our patients and their carers.
Palliative care is not based exclusively in the hospice setting, therefore staff from the NHS and private care sectors can access education and training facilitated by the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.
Education provision includes programmes aimed at both a local and national audience and is available at different levels.
The Education department offers a range of opportunities through:
- The Palliative Care and End of Life Study Days , (these multi-professional study days cover different aspects of palliative care and end of life, and would be of interest to anyone involved with palliative patients)
- Certificate in The Theory and Practice of Palliative Care
- Reflective Practice/Portfolio Development
- Links to other training opportunities
- Library Facilities
- Palliative Care Seminars
Resources
- The education department maintains a specialist Palliative Care library, of books, journals, CD ROMs, videos and audio tapes.
- Resource files are also kept on aspects of Palliative Care.
- NHS staff may borrow books via the Oliveira Library, who hold a data base.
- Others may use the library by prior arrangement but a deposit for loans will be required.
