of second hand goods –
What we can and cannot accept
Children’s clothing and nightwear – Any item of children’s clothing with a drawstring hood or a drawstring around the neck cannot be sold.
Children’s nightwear - must have been treated for flammability in accordance with BS5722.
Nightwear – should be labelled to indicate whether it meets the flammability requirements.
Crash helmets, visors and riding hats – these cannot be sold at all as it is virtually impossible to check compliance with the relevant safety standards.
DVD’s, videos and computer games – sold only when they are solely designed to inform, educate or instruct, concern only sport, religion or music or comprise only a video game are all exempt from classification.
Small new electrical goods – only are acceptable. We do not accept the following : Electric blankets, microwave ovens, Christmas tree lights, heating pads, sunbeds.
Furniture – must comply with The Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988 unless made before 1950. We cannot accept Beds or Large Wardrobes.
Perambulators, pushchairs and carrycot stands – must comply with the relevant British Standards, BS7409 and BS EN 1888 of 2003.
Spectacles – spectacle frames and sunglasses can be sold only if safe. Both adults’ and children’s sunglasses should carry UV protection labeling and the CE marking.
Toys – must be safe, not damaged or broken in a way that would make them unsafe. They should bear the CE Marking.
We accept vintage clothes for selling in our Retro Department.
We accept garments on a 60/40 basis for resale under 3 years old in our Sunflower Shop.
We accept broken gold & silver jewellery.
