Some of the recent events held for the Hospice

World's Biggest Bike comes to the Island. Thank you to all 10 teams who rode the Big Bike. It was great fun - even if the bike did 'roll' a bit more than we had all expected. The sponsorship monies are still coming in so we don't know how much you all raised towards patient care at the Hospice, but we will announce it as soon as possible. ( Monies to Sue Birch please who is coordinating it all. Cheques addressed to EMH). There are lots of pictures on this link and also on www.islandlifestyles2020.com and a video on www.brightcove.com/title.jsp?title=1155195548.

Or use this link to view the photos we have.
Once again, thank you for your support. It was a great day.

Isle of Wight Paragliding Club

The Club organised a sponsored tandem paraglide. 6 brave souls have registered and 3 have done it so far. The problem has been the bad weather which has made finding times to fly very difficult. So our thanks to the club members and particularly Emma and Steve who have spent hours on cliff-tops waiting for the wind to drop. For those that have flown it is an amazing experience - walking of the edge of a cliff - fortunately in a tandem rig, strapped to Steve behind who knows what he is doing. Then sitting back and flying with no sound, high above the beach and cliffs. A great experience.

Havenfest

Saturday, 28th July saw the Blake family organising this year's Havenfest - bands, bouncy castle, stalls not to mention Mum's cakes. The rain came down in the evening but that did not stop the party even if some cars had to be towed out of the field that night. And they raised over £3000 towards patient care. Our thanks to everyone who contributed to a really enjoyable event.

Thanks to all the Rotary Clubs

The Rotarians help at many of the major Hospice events which have helped to raise over £400,000 in the last two years alone. They organize traffic and walker marshalling, administration, BBQ's, and contribute significantly to their organisation - all with a good sense of humour. Our grateful thanks to you all. They are always open to new members, look in the Links page for their web addresses.
